Contributions of Climatic and Anthropogenic Drivers to Net Primary Productivity of Vegetation in the Mongolian Plateau

Global warming and intense human activity are altering the net primary productivity (NPP) of vegetation in arid semi-arid regions where ecosystems sensitive to climate change, including Mongolian Plateau (MP). To deepen understanding dynamics its driving factors on MP, actual NPP (ANPP) MP from 2000 2019 was estimated based a modified Carnegie–Ames–Stanford Approach (CASA) model. The Thornthwaite Memorial Guangsheng Zhou models were applied concurrently estimate potential vegetation, different scenarios constructed evaluate quantitatively impact change our study area. results showed that carbon sequestration capacities various types differ, with forest > cropland grassland wetland. increased significantly during 2000–2019. Most areas continuous stable ANPP, current trend variation mainly reflected improvement vegetation. In general, restoration prominent activities affected more than 30% restoration. ANPP positively correlated temperature precipitation, latter which had significant effect.
